Ankoku-ji Temple
Introduction
It is believed that the temple was built and named after the hometown of the chief priest of Ankokuji temple in Kishukoku Kumano Odomari when he did a country pilgrimage in 1361, during the Koan era. Its principal image is Amida Nyorai (Amitabha Tathagata) and the statue was made in the early years of Kamakura period. It was believed to be handed over by Honen Shonen and is now considered as a designated cultural property of the city.
